You seem to be showing off quite a sonic arsenal on this track, I love the melodies which are layered between each other while the track progresses forward. The pads sound expressive, the bass sounds smooth and the vocal samples work rather well.

My only real complaint is that your hat sounds abit too 'hissy' and the vocal samples seem slightly 'off-beat' at the beggining (but that might just be me).

Pretty awesome work overall. I would be interested in seeing and listening to any Happy-Hardcore tracks you make :)

I could imagine this piece being an awesome hotline piece from what it's based off of!

While it is simplistic, it works very well in the style of how this was composed. With the plucking sounding warm and the string's playing softly in the background it plays beautifully. Very well done.

I do like this track, sounds pretty complicated to compose.

Like Quarl said, you should dabble around with playing around with your velocity on your notes more, I did notice from around 0:47 to 1:23 with your lower notes that they all sounded around the same velocity.

You should do more piano pieces :)

Blacklawn responds:

Thanks! They don't really have the same velocity, but I guess that's not easy to notice. I'll upload a new version in which the velocity changes are more apparent.

Honestly, it's pretty good for a rushed piece in one-and-a-half hours. I wouldn't be able to pull off a 2:29 track that quickly.

Your mixing is pretty iffy on this though but I'm guessing that quantity/quality happens when a piece is rushed. The whole track sounds incredibly flat like it's either been over-compressed or you EQ'd the High and mid bands down too much. The track sounds like it hasn't been widened enough either.

I would spend a little but of time simply touching up on the mix & master of this and then upload it again. I'm sure it will sound alot better and with the recognisable Deshiel charm

Your combination of Raw Vocal-work and processing sounds like the real deal in the Electro-Industrial genre. While the track is fine on it's own, your vocal work makes the whole track sound so much better.

I want to hear more from you in the future.

industrialplayground responds:

Thank you

I really like the tone/sound of that guitar, it stands out to me the most in your track. Are you processing it through anything at all or was it just a clean recording of it?

Anyway, the track overall is pretty damn good and I am also a fan of how it sounds like as a whole with the Reverb on your Drumkit working together with your pads and vocal-work to make the track what it sounds like. You are a decent vocalist and I would be interested in hearing some of your future material if you submit any more of your pieces to Newgrounds!

motakay responds:

Thanks! The acoustic guitar is clean straight into Reason, but there I use the "Scream" distortion effect in and the Tape effect in there to make it sound more "tape"-like, and I also use the EQ in that effect. For the electric Fender Strat I used the guitar effects in POD farm 2 since I use a Line 6 UX2 for recording. Kind of heavy Chorus effect makeing it sounds almost out of tune. :)
Yea, I wished I sang better, I have a hard time keeping the notes in tune, but I hope I will get better. :)
I have another song going on for A.I.M that I started yesterday and will probably have it done tomorrow, a very simple one. :)

Nice work as always!

Anchorwind responds:

Thank you kindly!

Dem JP8000 Supersaw sounds. They sound so beautiful, I really want a hardware version now!
The track sounds pretty damn awesome, I love the Psytrance feeling that this track gives off, it's incredible and I can really hear the hardware generated sounds sounding so damn awesome!

Only thing is that the track does sound like it has alot of static with it which is a shame, otherwise I would bump it up to 5 stars.

Very nice track overall, I hope you can do a remaster of this one day and reduce the static noise, probably one of my Favorite trance tracks on Newgrounds right now!

Those are some very nice sounding bongo's you are using for this, what pack are they from?

Anyway, the white noise/distortion mixed in with the FX samples makes for a pretty awesome sounding composition, not necessarially a chaotic track but it sounds like the sound of something which promises an infection or a sense of destruction to peace or nature. I might go back and have a listen to the whole M.M series of tracks since it sounds like it's one big story.

Anchorwind responds:

Take a peek at Meinl Headliner Bongos.

Mother Machine was recorded as a story from The Pearly Gates through In the Teeth (and Dance of, to an extent). The last 2 or 3 projects have been in the similar analog styling but with much less focus on the story. I've them all on in a playlist on my NG page.

Sounds like you got Kontakt in the end from the sound of the strings and the drum-kit you used in this.
An interesting mix of styles here, the arps get a little bit repetitive but other than that it sounds good, decent mixing/mastering and it all fits together well in the end.

DESHIEL responds:

Dunno what Kontakt... a VST?
